KSL is involved in many heritage projects, including:

  • New parts for heritage machines
  • Reverse engineering of worn components
  • Re-design of obsolete components
  • Bespoke components for historic building restoration.

We have been involved with much of the engineering of the new-build LNWR “George the Fifth” locomotive. Our rail and structural expertise has been employed in making a design dating from 1910 fit for use on the modern railway.

We have also designed and supplied parts for traction engines and vintage vehicles.

An important part of our work is ensuring young people gain an interest in entering the engineering profession.  KSL frequently takes young people on work experience so that students can gain an appreciation of old and modern engineering techniques.
