The Problem:
A builder of new battery powered commercial vehicles required an integrated Air Compressor and Power Steering Pump unit for their midsize truck.
KSL Solution:
KSL used one of their range of electric drive compressors and combined it with their own design of power steering pump. A custom frame was designed to house the equipment, including the inverter drives. The unit included quick release couplings for the compressed air / hydraulic power steering connections and DC power leads to enable rapid installation on the vehicle.
Performance:
Compressor: 200 l/min @ 10 bar, water cooled.
Power Steering: 14 l/min @ 175 bar
Outcome:
A total of eight systems were supplied for the development prototypes.
